A rare and elegant pair of mid-century lounge chairs designed by Sándor Palócz in Hungary, 1968, exemplifying the clean lines and organic lightness of Scandinavian modernism interpreted through Hungarian craftsmanship.
Each chair features a bent tubular steel frame subtly integrated into a hand-finished solid beech structure, restored and oiled to a natural satin sheen. The upholstery has been completely renewed with premium lilac-toned Jacquard fabric, hand-stitched with great attention to original detailing, and fitted with new high-density foam for exceptional comfort.
The sculptural beech legs and balanced silhouette echo the work of Finn Juhl and Arne Hovmand-Olsen, yet remain unmistakably Hungarian in material warmth and proportion. Only a very limited number of these pieces were produced, making them a rare example of late-1960s Hungarian applied design.
